Assessment Investigation Core Foundation Work Interventions
Initial Assessment

Our initial 90-minute appointment includes a very thorough review of your past medical history, medications, prior interventions and any lab work done. I will also do a thorough nutrition assessment, review symptom and food diary records and assess current diet and lifestyle. We'll also have a chat about your concerns, goals and expectations. We'll formulate a preliminary plan, order appropriate lab testing and discuss initial diet and lifestyle modifications to start working on Core Foundations.

Plan ahead! As the initial appointment requires significant review, you are required to submit all requested records and questionaires at least three days in advance of your appointment.

Functional Testing
Functional testing goes beyond standard lab testing to look at the complex physiology of whole body systems for root causes of disease. Test results provide the clues and tools to help formulate your personalized care plan to address Core Foundation
weaknesses and identify areas requiring support & intervention.

After our initial visit, I may recommend one more tests to pursue based on your presentation. There are many, but frequently a core plan will include a Gut Zoomer, Organic Acids Testing and Micronutrients. For those with complex illness where biotoxins may be suspected, I often recommend Tickborne Illness panels and Mycotoxin/Total Toxin screens.
Follow-Up Visits
Standard follow-up visits can be 30 or 60 minutes. Hour long sessions are appropriate for reviewing lab work, assess any changes in your symptoms and modify your personal plan. I may ask you to keep a food journal and track your symptoms to hone in on problem areas and to track your progress over time.

30 minute check-in appointments are available for those times that we're waiting on labs and need to touch base, you're in a maintenance phase or you are experiencing difficulties and just have questions.

Appointments may be every or every other week to start and drop to monthly or as-needed once in maintenance.

Personalized Nutrition & Care Plan
Nutrition is appropriately front and center in the functional health world. My practices are evidence-based, and I subscribe to a food first, plant forward, gut-centered approach to health. I will also make use of targeted supplementation based upon your clinical picture and testing results.
Herbal preparations are often used throughout, especially when working with gastrointestinal disorders and to support the whole body when working with infections such as Lyme disease.

My Story
Hi! I'm Kim and I have a passion for Functional Nutrition and becoming the best health detective and clinician I can be. I have a masters degree in Nutrition and am a Registered Dietitian, licensed in multiple states. I also have advanced functional nutrition training, and am a Certified Gastrointestinal Nutritionist, and a Certified LEAP Therapist. A passion for plant-based diets originally brought me into the world of nutrition and introduced me to the power of food as medicine. I've worked in academic, research, non-profit public health, and clinical settings and am now solely in private practice, invigorated by the power and potential for functional health to improve people's lives.
I also have Lyme disease. I went undiagnosed for at least 15 years, if not my entire life. I credit my diet for staving off the worst this disease has to offer, however a myriad of changing, evolving symptoms eventually lead me into the functional health world where I finally found answers and proper treatment. I have since embarked on a long journey of functional health training, and am dedicated to bringing better access to functional nutrition care to those who have been struggling to find answers and improve health.
